PhD at TAPMI Manipal is a full-time doctoral program. The course duration for the aforementioned programme is of four years. Out of this duration, one year involves rigorous coursework. Doctoral-level courses about, Research Methodology, Research and Publication Ethics, Quantitative Methods of Research, Pedagogical Issues in Teaching, Research Proposal Writing, and area-specific courses are expected to be completed during the course work.

PhD at TAPMI Manipal requires submission of research work done during the stipulated course duration of four years. Before the end of the first twelve months i.e. at the start of the fourth year, the full-time scholar will be required to prepare a comprehensive research proposal and detailed plan. This research is to be done under the guidance of the allocated guide (s) and doctoral committee members (DAC).
