UID - new design institute in Ahmedabad

Home to reputed design institutes of the country, Ahmedabad witnessed the launch of a brand new design institute. The United Group, a business conglomerate, has announced the launch of its own United Institute of Design (UID) in Ahmedabad.

Affiliated to Gulbarga University, the institute will hone the skills and shape the careers of aspiring designers in various design disciplines. Besides the regular faculty, The students of this institute will be mentored by alumni of National Institute of Design (NID), Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, and the Faculty of Fine Arts, M S University, Vadodara, and other prestigious institutions.

Located at Karnavati Knowledge Village, the new institute would provide its students educational interaction with existing design and management students.

At present, the institute will offer 5 full-time degree programmes of four year duration. The disciplines include:

• Fashion Design
• Lifestyle and Accessories Design
• Product Design
• Interior Design
• Fine Arts (visual communications & graphic design)
•  Fashion Retail Management

Of 200 applicants, 50 students have been selected for the first batch, as stated by Ritesh Handa, managing director of United Group. To maintain the level of quality, the intake of students will be restricted. Read more
