JEE Advanced 2016 Interesting Facts

JEE Advanced 2016 have been declared and the official website of JEE Advanced 2016 was launched recently by the organizing institute, IIT Guwahati.

JEE Advanced 2016 will be held on May 22, 2016. Before the exam dates got declared, there were speculations about the same. In fact, a few days before the exam dates were announced, K.V. Krishna, Associate Professor in Department of Mathematics at IIT Guwahati, informed that May 22 was just the planned date and not the confirmed one for JEE Advanced 2016. However, in a fortnight or so, the exam dates were declared.

JEE Advanced 2016 will be divided into two parts. The first part (Paper 1) will be conducted from 9 am to 12 noon, while, the second part (Paper 2) will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm.

1. Organizing Institute: JEE Advanced 2016 is being conducted by IIT Guwahati.

2. Two Papers: JEE Advanced 2016 consists of two papers: Paper-1 and Paper-2. Aspirants taking the exam will be required to attempt both the papers.

3. Two Languages: Students will be able to choose the medium of question paper to be either English OR Hindi. The question paper will NOT be bilingual. The decision about the language of the paper needs to be taken during JEE Advanced 2016 registrations.

4. Two Attempts: Candidates are allowed to write JEE Advanced 2016 examination for a maximum of two times. And that too consecutively.

5. Absence: If you fail to appear for any of the two papers, you will be considered absent in the examination and the result will not be prepared. It is compulsory to take both the papers for result preparation.

6.  Foreign Nationals: Did you know that foreign nationals, including PIO(Person on Indian Origin) and OCI(Overseas Citizenship of India) card holders, are also eligible to take JEE Advanced 2016. This is because foreign nationals are outside the circle of seats reservation under various categories.

7. Defence Services: The DS category seats can be availed by the children whose parent was killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations while in defense / paramilitary service. Please note that not all DS children will be eligible for DS category seats.

8. Performance in Class XII: For securing admission in IITs(Indian Institutes of Technology) and ISM, aspirants should either be in category wise top 20 percentile in class XII or must have scored at least 75% aggregate marks for general and OBC-NCL or 70% aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates.

9. Preparatory Courses: Students who took admission in one of the IITs/ISM preparatory courses will still be eligible to take JEE Advanced 2016 if they fulfill other eligible criteria mentioned on the website.

10.ORS: Answers in JEE Advanced 2016 cannot be modified as the bubbling on ORS is done using only black ball point pen. Thus, once bubbled, answered cannot be modified.
