COVID-19: Mumbai University declares interim vacations from April 1 to 15

Mumbai University has declared an interim vacation for all students and teachers from April 1 to April 14. The university is planning to conduct the examinations soon after the lockdown is over.

Mumbai university's officials are planning to conduct exams once the lockdown is over, and begin the academic year as per the schedule in June. After the varsity's management council meeting on Tuesday, a
circular about interim vacation was released. The meeting was conducted online for the first time in the University's history.
The
Savitribai Phule Pune University, on Monday, had issued a circular announcing “interim” vacation from April 1 to April 14 in view of the COVID-19 situation in the country. However, the circular also mentioned that the faculty members may be called, if required, as per the need of the university or the college.
Earlier, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Raigad, had announced a vacation from March 15 to April 30. The University had also rescheduled the date of the examinations too. Usually, the teachers are given five weeks and students around two months of vacation.
Dr. Ravindra Kulkarni, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Mumbai University has said that they might also opt for academic rescheduling and preponing the coming academic year. He said, the decision about the same will be made in the varsity's academic council meet.
In the meeting, it was also decided to give an incentive of Rs 10,000 to all its contract security personnel and gardeners who are working despite the present situation.
