JEE Advanced 2015 Student Reactions
JEE Advanced 2015 commenced today, on May 24, 2015. The exam is being conducted in two parts – Paper 1 and Paper 2. While Paper 1, which was held from 9 am to 12 noon concluded, Paper 2 is still being conducted and will get over at 5 pm.
Shiksha.com is covering the JEE Advanced 2015 live from one of the centres in Noida. And we caught up with few JEE Advanced 2015 students to get first-hand information about exam this year. Most of the students that we spoke to reported that the exam pattern of JEE Advanced this year had changed completely. While some said that though the paper was easy, it required a lot of calculation, thus making it lengthy.
Take a look at what students who took the first paper had to say about the exam:
Prateek Kumar Singh – The paper was quite easy but too lengthy. I found all the sections – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the same level. I could solve 60-70 percent of the questions. I am quite prepared for Paper 2 now. In Mathematics, more number of questions came from the Chapter – Functions. Overall, the paper was easy but too much of knowledge to be put in.
Most importantly, the pattern has also changed. This year, there was negative marking and instead of 180 marks, the paper was of 264 marks. We were not aware of this. Last year, there was no negative marking in the first paper but the second one.
Shaarvi – The paper wasn’t really tough but the marking scheme was very weird. You get – 2 negative marking for a question answered incorrectly. This was never the case. Maths was the toughest while chemistry was the easiest. I could solve around 30 questions out of 60 questions (20 questions per section). I hope I am able to perform better in the second paper.
Muskan Bhati - When I started solving, I thought I wouldn’t be able to solve because I found the paper tough but I slowly started gaining confidence. The paper was lengthy too. This year, MCQs had negative marking but this was not the case earlier. Seeing the pattern change in Paper 1, I am a bit nervous about the second paper but a little confident too.
Nikita – The exam was easy but the paper was lengthy. The marking pattern was very tough. +4 and for correct answers and -2 or wrong answers. So, we couldn’t answer if we were not sure. And -2 negative marking is just too much. Section 1 was easy as there was no negative marking. Section 2 was little tough due to the negative marking. Section 4 was tough too.
