JEE Main 2014: The ranks & normalisation puzzle
With JEE Main 2014 Ranks being declared on July 8, engineering aspirants took over various social networking sites to express their concern, anger and frustration regarding the normalisation process which was adopted for declaring the JEE Main 2014 ranks.
The process, which looks more like a hit and trial method, apparently shook and disappointed a lot of students who appeared for the exam this year. And with so much confusion still prevailing – even after one long year of its launch – we still are trying to figure out what’s normal about the normalisation process.
Isn’t it surprising when a student who secures an AIR 1 in JEE Advanced dips down to a rank of 133 in JEE Mains? Expressing our concern and thoughts about the same, we wrote about the funny business behind JEE Main 2014 ranks.
Here, is an info-graph which shows the dramatic change in ranks of some of the students (JEE toppers) who stood amongst the top 10 position holders in JEE Mains and Advanced. Despite good scores in their Board exams and being the top rankers in the entrance exam, their ranks dipped drastically in JEE Mains 2014.
