JEE Main 2016 Delhi Topper Wants To Study Computer Science At IIT Delhi
Meet JEE Main 2016 Delhi Topper, Soumya Sharma, who secured a score of 325 out of 360 in the exam this year. With a dream of pursuing Bachelor’s in Computer Science at IIT Delhi, Soumiya states that making it to the IITs is a dream of every science student. And for him, it’s his consistent hardwork that has paid off and helped him achieve this success.
Talking about his accomplishment with Shiksha , he said, “ I was confident of scoring well in JEE Mains. However, I am not celebrating yet. I am retuning to my studies with renewed focus as I do not want to leave any stone unturned before JEE Advanced”.
JEE Advanced 2016 is scheduled to be held on May 22. Check important dates for the exam here.
According to Soumiya, this achievement is not a surprise for him and that he expected such a score. For him, now, the most important goal is to get through the IITs by cracking JEE Advanced 2016. “It feels good being the topper but it was only a qualifying examination”, he expressed.
Echoing his thoughts, Soumya’s father, Viresh Sharma, told Shiksha, “ My son is a very different kid. Most of the aspirants study for 10-12 hours every day. But, Soumya is not like them. He studies only for 5-6 hours a day. And before that, he takes some time preparing and making up his mind for the same. Since JEE Main 2016 results have been declared, he has been busy giving interviews. I am afraid that this would affect his preparation for JEE Advanced. JEE Main was just the first qualifying stage to enter IITs”. Soumiya’s father is an engineer and his mother is a Ph.D in Physics.
Soumya believes that it’s important to follow a preparation strategy which is a mix of both – studies as well as some fun. He said, “My preparation included consistent hard work with intermittent breaks in which I enjoyed movies, sports and music”. He also likes to watch football, view movies, listening to good music, playing keyboard and chess.
However, he stresses on the fact that to crack an exam this important, consistency is a must. Talking about his preparation for JEE Advanced 2016, he stated, “Preparation is continued through consistent hard work and practice through mock examination”.
Consistent work, keeping oneself relaxed and avoiding stress by doing activities one likes are some of the success mantras that this topper shares with aspirants taking JEE Main 2017.
JEE Main 2016 results were declared on April 27 and Hyderabad's Sai Teja secured the highest score in the exam this year. JEE Main 2016 ranks will be declared on June 30. Check important dates for the exam here!
