Karnataka CET 2014: Eligibility criteria
KCET 2014 is scheduled to be conducted on May 1 and 2, 2014 and the last date for the receipt of the application forms is April 5, 2014.
Through Karnataka CET, students (Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants) are eligible for admission to first year of all the above mentioned courses in Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions in the state of Karnataka.
Candidates trying to get admission to B Arch courses will have to appear for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). NATA is an All India level entrance examination conducted by the Council of Architecture for 200 marks.
Eligibility
For Medical / Dental courses
- Must have passed the second year pre-university or Class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination (QE) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study
- Obtained aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the qualifying examination and secured not less than 50% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the Common Entrance Test (CET) is eligible for admission to Medical and Dental courses. (40% of marks in both QE and CET for SC, ST, Category-I and OBC Category candidates
- Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the Common Entrance Test, the Medical / Dental rank list will be prepared and published for admission to Medical and Dental courses.
For Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy courses (ISM&H)
- A candidate who has passed the qualifying examination (QE) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study;
- Obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the QE is eligible for admission to Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses (40% in QE for SC, ST, Category–I and OBC Category candidates)
- Should have completed the age of seventeen years (17) as on December 31, 2014
- Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in both CET and QE by taking the marks in equal proportions, the ISM &H rank list will be prepared and published separately for admission to Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses.
For BSc in Agriculture, Forestry, Sericulture, Agriculture Biotech, Horticulture and Bachelor of Home Science courses
- Aspirants must have passed the qualifying examination (QE) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects.
- Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in both CET and QE by taking the marks in equal proportions, common rank list will be prepared and published separately
For Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry course
- Aspirants must have obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects in qualifying examination (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates)
- Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the CET, the rank list will be prepared and published.
For (BTech) Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Food Science and Technology, Bachelor of Fishery Science, and B Sc in Agriculture Marketing and Co-operation courses
- Aspirants must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as optional subjects.
- Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology subjects in both CET and QE by taking the marks in equal proportions, common rank list will be prepared and published separately for admission.
For B Tech in Agriculture engineering course
- Aspirants must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as optional subjects.
- Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in both CET and QE by taking the marks in equal proportions, common rank list will be prepared and published.
For Engineering / Technology courses
- A candidate who has passed qualifying examination (QE) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study can apply
- Obtained an aggregate minimum of 45% marks in the optional subjects in the QE is eligible for Engineering / Technology courses (40% for QE in case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC Category candidates)
- Provided that, the marks obtained by the candidate in Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science in the QE, will be considered in place of Chemistry, in case the marks obtained in Chemistry is less for required aggregate percentage, only for the purpose of determination of eligibility and not for the purpose of determination of rank, in respect of Engineering / Technology courses.
- Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in both CET and QE by taking the marks in equal proportions, the Engineering rank list will be prepared and published.
For Architecture course
- A candidate who has passed the qualifying examination (QE) with Mathematics as one of the optional subjects can apply
- Secured at least 50% marks in aggregate in all subjects in QE is eligible for admission to Architecture course (45% of marks in the case of SC, ST, Category-I, OBC candidates, and person with disability of mental retardation or mental illness including dyslexia).
- Based on the performance of the candidates in both QE and for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), by taking the marks in equal proportions the Architecture rank list will be prepared and published.
