Mystory@Sujit Marathe: How I made my career - the challenges & successes
I am a Pune native; born and brought up in the city. I completed my graduation from Modern College of Arts, Science, Commerce Shivaji Nagar, Pune and for 11th and 12th, I was at S.P College. All the years I spent in these colleges were memorable for different reasons. I was a merit holder student plus Inter Collegiate competitor for different competitions such as the Purshottam Karandak Runner Up during the year 1997-98 as well as a badminton player for Modern Complex and life coach at Tilak Tank.
I also enjoy different cultural activities such as natya sangeet sammelan, drawing competitions by Camlin. I also participated in nature walk camps.
College Years were truly career shapers because you get a proper platform for proving your hidden potential and improving your weaknesses. You analyse your strengths and prospective opportunities and follow the right path for making your dreams come true.
I was very clear about my career path because I had already conducted an analysis of my strengths, weaknesses opportunities and threats (SWOT Analysis) and this helped me get clarity about the path I had to follow to climb up the ladder of success.
Today I don't regret any decision that did not take place as planned or that let me down later during my career trajectory because I had a longer road map ready, I had a long term view of things.
Everyone should give himself/herself time and space to analyse oneself and then decide which stream/ branch he/she should follow because it guarantees success to the whatever extent is possible.
Don't take Decisions only for the sake of that moment or that time period, or simply because this is what is trending or to make someone happy because at the end of the day, it is you who has to endure both success as well as failure.
Take your own time to come to a decision but once you have decided to opt for that path, then consistently you have to persevere in that direction without any hesitation otherwise you will face a situation wherein you are as they say, "Na ghar ka, na ghaat ka”.
So be positive and believe in yourself. If you follow the footsteps of others, you lose your own identity.
