TNEA 2016 Counselling!

The counselling process for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) 2016 will be held from June 20 to 27, 2016. The Anna University has released all the important details related to the exam on its official website. TNEA 2016 is a single window counselling process, conducted by Anna University for admissions to B.Tech programmes offered by Tamil Nadu Engineering colleges. It helps candidates in seeking admissions in engineering colleges without appearing for any entrance examination. Please note that TNEA written exam has been scrapped and seats are allotted to the candidates on the basis of merit list. Also, the merit list for the exam is created on the basis of class 12 score scaled to 200.

As per the information released online, the random number generation will begin from June 20 and publication of rank order will be on June 22, 2016.

  • The university will choose a candidate based on the merit.
  • Candidates can choose the college and branches that are available at the time of counselling.
  • An initial deposit of Rs. 5000/-(Rs. 1000/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu) needs to be deposited by the candidate, by cash or DD.
  • They also need to produce all their original certificates at the time of counselling.
  • If a candidate has already submitted his/her certificates in an Institution where he/she has been admitted, a letter can be send from the Head of the Institution along with attested photocopies of the certificates for verification.
  • The eligible candidates can appear for the counselling process according to their cut-off mark. They shall carry their original certificates for verification, irrespective of receipt of individual communication.
  • The information on the date, time, and venue for counselling will be intimated to the candidates on the official website of Anna University.
  • If a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he/she can authorize his/her parent on his/her behalf to take any decision based on the requirement.
  • If a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on specified date and time due to any unforeseen reasons, he/she can attend the same on a subsequent time/date during the counselling period. Also, he/she can opt for the seats available and not for any seat as per their original rank.
  • Once the candidate is allotted a seat, the amount paid by him/her of Rs. 5000 (Rs. 1000 in case of SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) will be adjusted in the tuition fee.
  • Due to any unforeseen reason, if a candidate does not join the college and seeks refund, only 80% of the initial deposit amount at the time of counselling, will be paid back.
  • Also, the refund will be processed only through TNEA 2016 refund processing system available online.
