UPES 2015 Scholarships for B.Tech

UPES 2015 scholarships for the current session have been announced on its official website. The structure of the scholarship has two schemes: one exclusively for the students who will be pursuing B Tech programmes in the university and another for the toppers of UPES-EAT 2015 (University of Petroleum and Energy Studies - Engineering Aptitude Test 2015).

The scholarships shall be provided to the deserving candidates based on merit-cum-means. Also, it would be in the form of fee remission/concession (in the case of first scheme as mentioned below) of the tuition fee (partially/fully). The two schemes of UPES 2015 are in the following.

1. First scheme: Scholarship for B Tech students

Scholarships shall be issued to students pursuing full-time regular B Tech programmes in Information Technology, High Technology, Infrastructure, Mechanical, Oil and Gas, Health, Safety and Environment, Aviation and Aerospace and Power in the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies.

• Category I (partial remission/concession of tuition fee)

A candidate who is legally a domicile/resident (possessing ‘Sthai Niwas Praman Patra’) of the state of Uttarakhand can make a claim to this scholarship. Twenty five per cent of the tuition fee shall be remitted if the scholarship has been approved. This is a merit-cum-means based scholarship. The annual income of the family should not exceed three lakhs. The applicant of the scholarship must be a passed out of school situated in the state of Uttarakhand. Nonetheless, an exception has been made for the wards of defense personnel posted outside the state provided that they submit a certificate of posting issued by the competent authority.

• Category II (full remission/concession of tuition fee)

This scholarship is purely based on merit only. Candidates who have passed class XII board examination in the year 2015 from the board of CBSE or ICSE scoring 85% aggregate marks in all the subjects and 90% aggregate marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics (PCM) can apply for this scholarship. Five per cent seats of each of the B Tech programme (all streams/branches) shall be considered for the scholarship.

2. Second scheme: Scholarships for the toppers of UPES-EAT 2015

Candidates who have secured top six spots in UPES-EAT 2015 shall be provided a scholarship of Rs. 50, 000 each, sponsored by Oilmax Energy Pvt. Ltd., which is an oil and gas company. Out of the six scholarships, three scholarships are reserved for female toppers. Thus, the scholarships shall be given to top three girls and top three boys of UPES-EAT 2015. The scholarship amount would be disbursed within 45 days of joining the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES).

If there is a situation of tie in the test scores of the candidates (same rank in UPES-EAT 2015), then the decisive resolution shall be made by giving preference to the candidate with higher PCM marks. The elder candidate shall be given preference even if there is a tie in PCM marks of the same rank candidates.

• Scholarships for the subsequent years shall be based on the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score. The required CGPA scores are 3.67 out of 4.00 for the students belonging to general category and 3.52 out of 4.00 for the residents/domicile students of Uttarakhand state.

3. Notes to ponder upon:

• H/She must not be a candidate who had re-appeared for any exam during the programme.
• H/She must fulfill the required attendance formalities/norms.
• H/She must not be a subject to any disciplinary action taken by the University.
• The decision of the University Scholarship Committee shall be deemed final.
