National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, Doctoral, Executive PhD and other courses to students. It has 20 departments under which these courses are offered. Moreover, BTech is the flagship course of NIT Rourkela. Some other popular courses offered by the university are MTech, M.A. and others.  Admission to the offered programmes at NIT Rourkela is either through entrance examinations (for example, JEE Mains/ GATE/ IIT JAM) or based on merit. Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology has below criteria for taking admissions to it's various courses:

Courses	Eligibility
M.Sc.	Candidates must be graduate in relevant stream from recognized university
B.E. / B.Tech	Candidate must have passed Diploma in relevant stream from a recognized Institute.
B.Arch	Candidate who have passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized Institute/ University can also apply. Candidates appearing for 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics in the current year may also provisionally appear for NATA-2023.
M.E./M.Tech	Candidate must have graduate in relevant stream from recognized board.
MCA	Candidate must have completed BCA/ Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent Degree with above mentioned marks from any recognised University/Institute. OR Candidate who have completed B.Sc./ B.Com./ B.A. with Mathematics at 10+2 Level or at Graduation Level can also apply. 45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category.
After 10th Diploma	Candidate passed 10th class/equivalent conducted by BSE, Odisha/equivalent are eligible to apply. The lower age limit is 14 years and there is no upper age limit.
