Ethics

In the Biosciences department, safety and ethics are treated as a serious part of training. From B.Sc. Botany and Zoology to M.Sc. Microbiology, students go through orientation sessions that focus on lab discipline and standard operating procedures. They are guided on how to deal with accidents, use first aid in case of chemical spills, and report any mishandling immediately. Special sessions are also organized where faculty talk about ethical practices in scientific research—like honesty in reporting data, giving credit to sources, and ensuring experiments are environmentally sustainable. Students also learn about biohazard labeling and safe storage of cultures or specimens. By combining safety and ethical practices, the department prepares students to work confidently in industries like pharmaceuticals, food processing, and research labs, where such skills are not just expected but absolutely necessary.
