On an optimistic note, a Pakistani student of Delhi University with poor attendance may get permission to appear for the examination. His department will allow him despite bad attendance.
Delhi University's the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies had previously denied him permission to write the exam due to shortage of attendance. However, the Department is reconsidering its decision after an intimation form the Dean of Examinations.
The undergraduate student is being considered as an exceptional case as his visa expires next year, failing to appear in exams would leave him without a degree. Sources in the Dept. told TOI, that the student has a poor attendance record in the past two years. It also confirms the letter from the Dean of Examinations asking the Dept. to consider his case.
As per the departmental rule, a student is required to have a minimum 66 per cent attendance in order to sit in the exams, but students with attendance between 40 to 66 percent are allowed to appear after signing an undertaking. In case of the Pakistani student, who also suffered from health issues, its was below 40 per cent.
