IIMs Will Give More Importance To CAT Score For Admission This Year
Last year, after many technical glitches, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) decided to drop the weightage of Common Admission Test (CAT) score for admission. But this year, as everything is going smooth and till now no error has been recorded, IIM decided to increase the weightage of CAT score for the admission. This year, most of the IIMs have already declared that more weightage will be given to CAT score and students' profile as well. Mr. Himanshu Rai, CAT-2010 convener, also a professor at IIM-Lucknow, said, "Last year, the weightage given to CAT scores was around 30%, this year we have increased it to 37.5%. We are fine-tuning our admission policies. We are looking for a diversified set of students' profiles, a mix of freshers and candidates with work experience." The admission process is divided into two phases. Phase-I includes the CAT score and academic profile of the candidate including X, XII and degree scores and second phase is divided for group discussion and personal interview. However, some institutes have given different weightage to different sections.
