New Avatar of IIT-JEE in 2013
The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) Council has decided to make some modifications in the pattern of IIT-JEE and these changes will be implemented from 2013 onwards. The new pattern of the exam would have an aptitude test and it will consist of questions based on reasoning and all other subjects that the students have studied in their schools.

IIM-Calcutta planning to tap Corporates for Funds
The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) is projecting a plan to tap top Indian Corporates for funds to meet its infrastructural needs. Intake of students has considerably increased over the last three years. IIM-C director Shekhar Chaudhuri said that, we are planning to build around 530,000 sq ft of new facility. Half of the project is already over and the total project outlay is around Rs.195 crore. To complete the infrastructural projects it has decided to approach corporates for Rs.50 crore.

India Signed DTAA with Estonia for ICT Education
India has signed a double taxation avoidance agreement (DTAA) with Estonia to enhance the Information, communications, and Technology (ICT) education in India. It has been signed by the Communications and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal and Estonian Minister of Finance Jurgen Ligi.

CBSE's plea for combined AIPMT and AIEEE exam rejected: SC
Supreme Court, on Friday, has rejected the plea of CBSE to integrate the AIPMT and AIEEE into a single entrance test for admissions to undergraduate medical and engineering courses. AIPMT is conducted to fill 15% seats in MBBS/BDS courses in government medical and dental colleges against the all-India quota while AIEEE is for drawing up a combined merit list for a different category of engineering colleges. CBSE officials said that amalgamation of both the exams will reduce the physical and financial stress.

India and China are largest markets for B-schools
As per the Application Trends Survey 2011, conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), has revealed that India is the fastest growing source of foreign applicants. Meanwhile, the number of applicants from China looking to study abroad has also increased. India and China are the leading Asia Pacific countries contributing to the influx of applications for full time MBA programmes.

Australia to relax visa norms for Indian students
The Australian Government has announced relaxing the visa norms for Indian students after witnessing the steep decline in the enrolment of foreign students. The new changes will come into action from the second semester of 2012 in Australian universities. All these changes were announced by the Australian Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations, Senator Chris Evans and the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Chris Bowen MP.
