Fake Business Schools flourishing in Delhi: AICTE
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has provided a report and as per which fake business schools are flourishing in Delhi. Undoubtedly, the capital has bagged the distinction of playing anchor to the largest number of illegal educational institutes in the country. As per AICTE, there are about 75 institutes in Delhi that are enrolling students under technical programmes without its approval.
Most of these fake institutions offer degree or diploma programmes in management studies. Maharashtra also shares the same position with Delhi as both the states together account for 45 per cent of all the total unapproved institutes in India.
Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal too fall in the same category as they have the second and third highest number of unapproved institutions, respectively. AICTE is the only regulatory body empowered to grant recognition to technical courses run by different universities and institutes in the country.
About 3500 management institutes alone are approved by the AICTE, and out of which 3,000 offer MBA programmes and 500 offer diplomas. As per the council regulations, any academic programme which is offered in the fields of architecture and town planning, management studies, engineering and information technology, pharmacy, hotel management should have an AICTE approval.
Degrees provided by the fake business schools are of no worth. M. K. Hada, head of the approval department of the Council said that, "such degrees are mere a piece of paper and does not hold any value in the job market especially if the student wishes to seek employment in the government sector".
Council makes students and parents aware of the fact that such institutes are not approved and fake. It uploads the names of such institutes on its official website, and issues newspaper advertisements from time to time. It has also issued the report of all the 348 unapproved institutes.
‘Serious steps should be taken against such fake institutes by the respective state administrations. ‘
Beware students before you enroll for an institute; check its authenticity.
