70, 000 aspirants to appear for CMAT

Management aspirants are keeping a close eye on the clock as the first ever CMAT is round the corner.
After the completion of the registration process, it has been concluded that a total of 70, 000 management aspirants will appear for the first ever Common Management Admission Entrance Test (CMAT).
It is a national level entrance test, scheduled to held from 20th - 28th February, 2012. This entrance test is a gateway to admission to 3,500 odd MBA colleges in the country. It will be conducted online by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
Most of the states have already announced the schedule for their very own exams. The schedule for CMAT was announced a bit late. It is the first edition of the CMAT and it took very long to convince states for one national level entrance test. The exam was launched to reduce the stress level among students. AICTE has made this exam mandatory for all the AICTE approved institutions. From 2013, it will be held twice in a year. State CET has already been scrapped by the State Government and this is the last year of the CET. From 2013 onwards, CMAT scores will be considered for admission to MBA colleges in the state.
In 2011, a total of 96,000 candidates from the state appeared for the MBA /MMS CET. Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala will accept CMAT scores from next academic year.
