A Business Class Experience with BBS
The Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) is a three-year degree course offered by the University of Delhi. The BBS course aims at providing top grade man- agement knowledge and skills at the undergraduate level. undergraduate level.
The first two years help build the foundation and understanding in areas of Modern Business; Business Communication; Information Technology for Business; Statistics; Micro and Macro Economics, Public Relations; Marketing Research, Cost Research, Cost Accounting; Marketing Management; Financial Management; Financial Accounting; Production and
Operations Management; Quantitative Techniques and Entrepreneurship.
In the third year, students can choose an area of specialisation. The option of specialisation is offered in areas of Finance, Marketing and Human Resource.
The students are required to study five elective papers in the area of spe- cialisation and submit a graduation proj- ect in the same.
The curriculum is divided into six semesters involving theoretical learn- ing along with case studies, project pre- sentations and role plays. Practical and on-the-job learning takes place through a 6-8-week summer internship com- pulsory for the BBS students after the fourth semester. Industrial visits and educational excursions and guest lec- tures by speakers from the corporate sector form an important part of the overall learning experience.
Besides academics, students are encouraged to join different societies.
All candidates who have either passed/ appeared in the Class XII examination (or its equivalent), with a minimum of 60 per cent marks (55 per cent in the case of SC, ST, CW & PH) in four papers -- inclusive of English and Mathematics (other two papers from a specified list), are eligible to apply for the BBS course.
Besides giving weightage to the per- formance in the Class XII exams, the admission to the course uses a rigor- ous three-step selection procedure com- prising an entrance test with a weigh- tage of 50 per cent, group discussion (10 per cent), and personal interview (10 per cent).
