Conducted by Business Standard in collaboration with IMRB which is a leading market research agency, this is the 13th BS Best B-School Survey whose results are available in the May 2012 issue of the Indian Management.
The motive of this survey is not to rank institutes but to segregate them into 14 hierarchical categories: Super League 1, Super League 2, A1 through A8, and B1 through B4.
Scores cover two basic parameters - audit scores and perception scores - and the final score is the weighted average, which places the institutes in one of the 14 categories. The audit module comprises of aspects such as intellectual capital, infrastructure, admissions and placements, industry interface, governance and the scale of operations, which can all be evaluated in an objective manner. While perception scores are based on the alumni and industry viewpoints.
All business schools that are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or the government or a university, are eligible to participate in this survey. Also, the institute should have the placement record of a minimum of two batches of its students who have passed out. For the survey, questionnaires are sent out to all the approved B-schools in the country, who are expected to send the required information to IMRB, the market research agency conducting the survey. While 2400 business schools were contacted for the 2012 survey, less than 200 sent back the completed forms in time.
