CAT takes over FMS too!!
Since long CAT has gained worldwide acceptance from top management institutes; and now it has begun the process of taking over other management exams. Lately some of the major management exams were replaced by CAT like MICAT, JMET, and now FMS. The most eminent management entrance exam FMS scrapped; yes it's true that Delhi University has decided to scrap the FMS entrance tests and it will be replaced by Common Admission Test (CAT).
Faculty members of FMS have decided to scrap FMS because of its inability to conduct the tests. Many teachers are worried about the cost of using CAT entrance exams for admissions. The university will have to shell out a onetime membership fee of Rs.50, 000 and an annual fee of Rs. 2 lakh in addition to Rs.200 per candidate to obtain the CAT scores.
Other faculty members are worried about the academic value of the exam which has been slipped out. Prof J. K Mitra, faculty member said that, the format is distinctive from CAT; over 40 per cent of our questions have never been asked in CAT. The exams which were scheduled in December could have negative insinuations for everyone concerned.
He also said that, "It's a 40-year-old tradition and the FMS exams have always been a bench-mark for other entrance exams. It did not deserve to be scrapped without due notice."
