Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 is one of the most prestigious exams of the country. Indian Institute of Management conducts CAT for aspirants who want to take admission to IIMs and many other top MBA institutes in India. It will be conducted online through different centers across India. This year the count of examination centers is going to be lesser because of the longer CAT 2011 examination window. Last Year a candidate could choose his/her exam date within the given time period of 11 days Exam Window.

CAT Exam Dates: 22nd October, 2011- 18th November, 2011

Eligibility for CAT 2011:

  • You should have a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, 45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA), from any recognized institution or university incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

Reservations:

As per the rulings of the Government of India, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7ยฝ% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates belonging to the "non-creamy" layer.

Admission Process:

Admission is a three stage process:

  • Written Ability Test (WAT)
  • Group Discussions (GD)
  • Personal Interviews (PI)

CAT 2011 Results:

Results for CAT 2011 will be declared on 11th January, 2012.

List of shortlisted candidates for the next level of selection will be made available on the individual IIM websites.
