Highest paying MBA specialisation in 2013: Operations picks up steam
As MBA Class of 2014 begins, few questions weigh heavily on every aspirant’s mind.
Which is the highest paying specialisation in the current economy? What are top colleges offering this specialisation and what is the average salary earned by the alumni of these colleges?
To ease your worries, Shiksha.com collaborated with Naukri.com to find out the top paying specialisation in 2013-14. Naukri.com, India’s leading job portal, has a database of almost 30 million registered job seekers.
We shifted through two kinds of CVs to get the data – a) the new resumes and b) resumes that have been updated in the last one year. The average work-experience covered in the research is two to five years.
As per our findings, MBA or PGDM in the following subjects are the highest paying specialisations in the current economy.
- MBA in Finance
- MBA in Marketing
- MBA in Human Resources
- MBA in Operations
- MBA in Advertising and Mass Communication

SP Jain Mumbai has emerged as the top college for MBA Operations specialisation. The next best colleges are Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, Calcutta and Lucknow.
The highest average salary reported (after two to five years of experience) is Rs 14.8 lakhs per annum (LPA). Reliance Industries emerged as the top recruiter in this field.
