The Institute for Promotion of Mathematics (IPM) will be declaring the results for the All India Open Mathematics Scholarship Examination (AIOMSE) today. The AIOMSE Mega Final Examination for the year 2011 will be held April 17th 2011.

The IPM is a Pune-based Institute that conducts scholarship examinations for Mathematics all over India. The All India Open Mathematics Scholarship Examination (AIOMSE) is a competitive examination exclusively for school-going children. The AIOMSE is open to students from Classes Stds. III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII & IX from the following recognized Boards - SSC, ICSE, or CBSE. The students will be tested on their mathematical skills, critical analysis, mental speed, calculation speed, accuracy.

The Institute for Promotion of Mathematics (IPM) has stipulated age limits for students who wish to take the examination. Students from Class III must not have completed 10 years of age, Class IV must not have completed 11 years, Class V must not have completed 12 years, Class VI must not have completed 13 years, Class VII must not have completed 14 years, Class VIII must not have completed 15 years and Class IX students must not have completed 16 years of age.

The AIOMSE question paper will be objective in nature with 50 questions of 2 marks each. Each question will have four alternative answers to choose from. Students who wish to appear for the AIOMSE can prepare themselves with the help of past question papers and solved answer papers that are published by the Institute.

The All India Open Mathematics Scholarship Examination (AIOMSE), as the name suggests, will test the students only on Mathematics and the medium of language will be English and Marathi. Every year, IPM conducts two rounds of examinations for AIOMSE: Final examination and Mega Finals. Based on the student's performance in the final examination, the Institute selects the top 400 -500 students and the conducts the Mega Final Exams. Students who score 30% and above marks will be declared passed and those who score a minimum of 60% or above will be listed in their merit list of the first 200-250. The Institute awards a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 to the student who secures the top score, Rs, 5000, Rs. 2500, Rs. 2000, Rs. 1500 and Rs.1000 for the second, third, fourth, fifth and six prize respectively.

Students who wish to appear for the 2012 examinations can download the application form from the IPM's official website. The Institute accepts Cheques/DD/Cash for the payment of examination fees, which is Rs.200 for all classes. The application forms should be completed and submitted to the Institute by October 31, 2011. The Institute will issue hall tickets where information about the center will be given.

The Institute for Promotion of Mathematics has been promoting Mathematics for school children since 1996. The goal of these examinations is to turn mathematics into a fun subject rather than something that students dread. With cash awards and scholarships as an incentive, students develop a healthy competitive spirit that makes them strive harder to excel in these examinations.
