All India Management Association (AIMA) yearly conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for various post graduate courses across India. Students seeking admission into reputed management institutes and big B-schools take this popular exam. The Mat exam is approved by government of India and has gained the stature of a National Entrance Test by the same for admission to MBA.

The MAT exam is conducted on a quarterly basis throughout the year i.e.

  • February
  • May
  • September
  • December

Eligibility Criteria for MAT

Students who have cleared their graduation (in any discipline) from a recognized university can apply for this exam. Those who are pursuing their final year at undergraduate level too can take this exam. Though, they will need to produce their degree at the time of admission.

Exam Format for MAT 2011

  • Number of Questions: 200 multiple choice questions
  • Duration: 150 minutes OR 2.5 hours

Exam structure for Mat 2011

  • Language Comprehension(40 questions)
  • Mathematical Skills (40 questions)
  • Data Analysis (40 questions)
  • Intelligence and Critical Reasoning (40 questions)
  • Indian and Global Environment Section (40 questions)

However, students must note that while most institutes take into account the marks of first 4 papers, there are some institutes that count the marks of the 5th paper as well.

On Sunday, May 1, 2011, MAT will be conducting its offline test as per following schedule:

  • 10.00 am - 12.30 pm- Paper based test

On Saturday, May7, 2011, MAT will be conducting its online test as per following schedule:

  • Test Timing: In three time slots per day

Did you know?

  • MAT is an objective based test
  • Since there is no upper limit, a candidate can appear as many times as he desires in a MAT exam
  • There is a system of negative marking in certain segments
