Mystory@A Sai Sree Deepthi: How I chose my course and college
After completing class 10th with distinction, I was confused about my career goal. My parents told me that this was a very important stage to build the foundation of a successful career. Like every student, I started my research and discussed with my parents, friends and relatives. I was interested in mathematics and sciences because there are vast opportunities and advantages in that field. I had also seen Happy Days movie and was fascinated with Engineering.
After many discussions I finally joined Narayana Junior College to study MPC. Initially, I couldn't do well in physics but gradually picked up and scored distinction in all the subjects.
My goal was to become a software engineer. After my intermediate, I joined Gitam University, Hyderabad. I really had a great time in my B.Tech. I felt like a butterfly which just came out of a cocoon. At the same time, I started feeling more responsible. It was for the first time in my life that I got to interact with different people of different states, cultures and languages. In college, I learnt a lot of lessons which are not only related to subjects. Graduation is undoubtedly a beautiful stage in a studentโs life.
How I cracked college admission
During my engineering I started planning about Masters. I was utterly confuse as to which course to choose, MBA, MS or M.Tech.
I started analysing my strengths, weakness and some amount of introspection helped me in clearing the clouds that covered my thought process. Finally after much deliberation I decided to pursue MBA. Having confidence in the decision I took, I joined coaching classes and started my preparation to face the entrance examinations. I attempted exams like XAT and MAT and scored fairly well in them. After completing this battle it was again the time to face doubt. Which college to choose now? But this time it was very simple as I chose the right mentor which erased all my confusion and that is Shiksha, an amazing student friendly educational portal which is just like a personal guide. The details that it provides on the website are accurate. I applied and sent my score card to the college. After about a week I received the offer letter of admission. I attended the interview process and got selected. Now I am pursuing masters in my dream college, Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad. A big thanks to Shiksha for guiding me to take the most important decision regarding my career.
What I gained from my college experience
I am pursuing my MBA in Institute of Public Enterprise. Our campus is spread across 21 acres land near the Shamirpet Lake. It is a beautiful lush green campus with rocks, trees and plants with colourful flowers. My friends and I go for morning walks and breathe fresh air which keeps our body and mind rejuvenated. Sometimes we get the opportunity to see peacocks dancing at the compound wall of the hostel building.
In our college, each student is provided with three business newspapers daily to stay upgraded and enhance their general knowledge. Classes are extremely helpful as our faculty make them very interesting to us. The cool thing about our college schedule is that one usually gets more opportunities to explore their interests and passions. On a given day, students are engaged in classroom presentations, various programs like Startuppedia (business plans for startups), attending guest lectures, participating in various clubs etc.
My favourite place in college is the library. It is stacked with 52,000 books covering various topics of Management and allied subjects, Public Enterprises, Economics, Indian Management Thought, Autobiographies, Biographies, etc. The Library houses around 300 International/National Journals and Indian Business Magazines besides various newspapers and a large collection of Government Reports like Estimates Committee reports, Public Accounts Committee Reports, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha reports, Statistical Data and Annual Reports of Central and State Level Public Enterprises, Project Reports submitted by the students, faculty and research scholars. The library has an Audio Visual Centre equipped with audio and video cassettes / CDs on Management and allied subjects. I also play badminton and table tennis. We have various inter college competitions and an annual festival during which we have lots of fun. I stay in the college hostel which gives home-like feel. In the hostel, we celebrate birthdays and New Yearsโ Eve. Food in our college is delicious we are served dishes like manchurian, pav-bhaji, noodles etc.
Though the college schedule can be crazy at times, but I love what I do and all that I learn. The best and worst part of my college is the flexibility it offers. You are allowed to choose everything: your classes, extracurricular activities, friends, etc. A great deal of responsibility and time management is needed, but with a bit of planning and hard work, you can be very successful. I love my college and proud to be an IPEian.
