Mystory@Aakash Wadhwani: How I chose my course and career path – Challenges and learnings

In school, my teachers insisted me to choose Maths as the main subject. Due to financial constraints, I switched to Accountancy in 1st year. The reason for my switch was me not getting time to study due to my job in a travel agency. Upon my senior’s insistence, I pursued my MBA in Telecom from IMT(CDL) Ghaziabad via distance education. Shortly, due to my situation, I switched from the travel sector to the Pharma sector and from there to the telecom sector. From this sector, I moved on to the education sector and currently, I am in the Banking.

My career was going in the right direction. During the journey, I realised that one should focus on studies and never compromise with it. I got to learn a lot across all the fields I worked for; from selling products to retailer and distributors to working my way into the operation, collections and recovery department, I did it all. All the jobs taught me a lot of technical things and also helped me develop strategies of my own after experiencing failure.

Self-motivation and passion will never let you get demotivated. I always challenged the best to perform well. One should always say ‘yes’ to every task that’s assigned to them even if you do not have any knowledge about it. Try completing the given tasks in your own way. As soon as you are done with the previous task, aim for another one and give it your best.

This was the only way I delivered my best across different industries that I worked. I have faced so many difficult times in life which includes both financial and family matters but I never settled down and never stopped dreaming. I never will because I believe dreams do come true.

I am Aakash Wadhwani and have pursued my MBA from IMT CDL Ghaziabad. I completed by BCom from Christian College, Indore. I am currently working as a Regional Manager in HDFC.
