Mystory@Ajitesh K: How I chose my course and college
I chose Science in Class 11-12 as my course of study, as then I wanted to learn in about technology. I had interest in engineering, so I concentrated on physics, chemistry and maths to score decent marks to secure admission in a good college. Also, my grandfather was my inspiration behind choosing engineering. My parents encouraged me to pursue Bachelor of Civil Engineering in Thiagarajar College Of Engineering, Madurai. The 4-year B.E Course was going smoothly, when in second year, I had a sudden idea to learn management skills after finishing UG. So I started attending T.I.M.E. coaching classes during weekends. Since I was keen on doing MBA, my parents too supported me. My parents have supported me in every decision I too and I know that they will support me in future too.
How I cracked college admission
I cracked CAT 2015 with a score of 69.36 (61.87 percentile). Thanks to the T.I.M.E. coaching classes which I took in Simakkal, Madurai. To be on a safer side, I also applied for TANCET exam. I had applied to PSG Institute Of Management, Coimbatore but couldn’t attend the interview due to some reason. So admission to Thiagarajar School Of Management, Madurai was the only option left for me, and that was a hit or miss situation. I confidently attended the Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds at Thiagarajar. Then I had a small talk with the Director of TSM. The Director asked me to opt for PGDM instead of MBA, as it has more practical exposure. I think, I took a wise decision of choosing PGDM over MBA, I can feel the difference.

What I learned in my college years
In College, time just flies away. In completing assignments, gaming with my friends in hostel. We play football post dinner, once a week. We get about 1 hour to play sports like Volleyball, Badminton and other indoor games. Few students workout at the gym to improve their physique. We also visit the library and journal sections whenever we are free after classes. My college TSM has taught me to compete with myself; to compare my yesterday’s performance and today’s progress and thus bring some improvement in myself. I have learnt how to effectively solve business problems through scientific methods. I have also learnt what is brand-building through Shiksha and other activities done in our college.
I feel lucky to have chosen PGDM as it has more guest lectures than MBA and I get more practical experience than MBA. If given a chance, I would like to maintain equality in division of the available, so that all the people around me are satisfied!
Thank you for hearing my story!
