Mystory@Lav Kurmi: How I chose my course and college
I had been a brilliant child during the early days of my schooling. My mathematics was very good, and solving problems quickly was a piece of cake for me. Also, I was very good in Science too. In 10th standard I fulfilled the criteria of choosing Science as my stream.
That’s how I opted for Science in my 11th Standard and started my new journey as a Science student.
As I am a Science student, I decided to go for Engineering. I completed Engineering, and am currently pursuing PGDM from BIMM, Pune.
I also searched and visited the websites of numerous colleges, visited the websites which compared various colleges and provided them rating, and allowed aspirants to post their question which the experts would answer. The confusion continued as I was about to take a big decision of life.
I constantly kept looking for the solution of questions like: “Which college to Select?, Which college will consider my scorecard?, What are the scorecards that colleges accept?, What should be the fees of college?, What about the infrastructure, learning environment exposure to industry?, What are placements statistics?”
So somebody helped me by saying that I can have a counselling session with “Mr. Shyam Verma” – director PT education – Raipur. While we were having the discussion I asked all the question that I had in my mind and he suggested me some 4 colleges, They were: Balaji institute of Modern Management, Indira Institute of Management, K J Somaiya, and ITM Kharghar.
Excellent Infrastructure, Excellent Placements, Excellent Learning environment and Teachers, Fantastic Exposure, Best ROI made BIMM to emerge as a winner for me, Hence I decided to go for BIMM.
I verified all the above parameters once I visited the college. So I’ll suggest everyone to visit the college once before taking admission. That’s how I landed to Balaji Institute of Modern Management, Pune.
How I cracked college admission
My college consider score card for CAT/CMAT/MAT. I applied through CAT, and received a call from BIMM regarding the schedule of GD/PI. The admission process was divided into 3 parts, Essay Writing being the first one, Group Discussion being the second and Personal Interview the last one.
Once I had completed the entire process, the coordinating team informed me that I could leave for my home and they would be emailing the results.
Evening time was the celebration time for me as I got an email stating that I had been selected for the PGDM program at Balaji Institute of Modern Management. That night was amazing night for me as I was happy, my parents were Happy and my twin was also happy. That night has a wonderful memory in my life. And one more thing, you feel out of this world when you see your parents happy and proud.
“Khusi Hoti hai yaar Bohot. Andaaza nai laga sakta us khushi ka koi”
I attempted the test series of PT education and attended the General Knowledge sessions of PT education. My GD round was Good. My group members were also good. I actively participated in the GD and my PI round was also good. I was able to justify my work experience, my thought process and was able to convince what my interests and hobbies were. As a result, both of my rounds were fantastic and so was the result, which I have already shared with you all.
I was considering Indira Institute of Management, but after conducting a research and getting my queries solved, I decided to go for Balaji and today I am cherishing that decision. That’s how I made it to BIMM, Pune.
My college life
As we all know the best time of life is college time because, you have lots to learn, you do lots of masti with friends, there is no burden, you can plan night outs, go out with friends either for a movie or for munching snacks, you watch upon girls or boys, remain awake till 2:00 am or even 4am, play pranks on your friends or disturb your friends who fall asleep early, get up late in the morning i.e. just half an hour before the college door closes, play cricket in the corridor and try every damn possible trick to get second chance, celebrate friends birthday – “Cake khaane se jaada lagane mein mazaa aata hai”, always blaming college for not giving holidays to go home, even though you might have returned from home just a week before, “Ghar se khaane ka samaan isiliye leke aate hein ki doston ke saath baith ke khayengay”, fighting with your best buddy, but standing for him/her when anybody else says anything wrong about him/her, forming gangs in the college so that you can establish your Bhaigiri in college or in Hostel, chitchatting with friends during classes, running to various friends for various topics to complete the syllabus at the last moment etc. are the moments which nobody can forget in his/her entire life. This is the place where an individual creates memories and then cherishes those their entire life. This is all only about personal life. Colleges do help in building professional careers.
They teach you, how to remain in discipline, how to think logically, how to solve problems, what should be your approach towards life, how you should behave in community and also helps in building one’s personality.
Not only this, they try every possible means to make you tough, a team player, to bring forward the leader in you, to live the fantastic journey called life with enthusiasm, courage and love. They also help you to take bold decisions of life, become mentally and emotionally strong, prioritize your work, and think practically as well as strike a balance in emotional and rational thinking.
In college we have endless opportunity to spend quality time. We spend time by attending college, sitting with friends in café and doing chit chatting, going to eat something, sometimes, going to watch movie, watching movie in the hostel “EK-SAATH”, and studying together during examination.
“Agar abhi bhi kisi room mein Jhaank kar dekhogay to kuch na kuch masti ya nautanki chal rahi hogi”.
I attend all classes as I firmly believe that every teacher teaches you something and in every class you learn something new. So that is the motivation for me to attend all the classes.
Our college hosts extra-curricular activities like cultural festivals, inter college competition. I have been in the creative team for designing props, art works etc.
My college experience has changed me in many ways. First of all, it made me think logically, rationally, practically, helped me to learn the art of how to prioritize your work, helped me in developing critical thinking, and helped my senses to grow better.
Last but not the least it has made me a fantastic human being. That’s all about my learning and My story. Hope you all have a great career ahead.
