Mystory@Prakash Choudhary: How I chose my course and college
Since childhood, I was more inclined towards sports and thus was never a meritorious student in school.
I completed Class 10 from DNS, Dhantoli (Nagpur). Despite scoring Second class I managed to get admission in Science stream in Class 11-12. As I had scored low in Class 10 there was lots of parental pressure to score well in Class 12. And I did it. Since everyone was opting for Engineering, I too followed the same path them. I took admission in JDCOE, Nagpur University. My years in university taught me one thing that nobody else could, and that was, no to lose hope.
After Graduation, I joined Phoenix Sea Services Pvt. Ltd. as a Marketing Manager. Yes!! I know you will ask me, βWhy I took up a marketing job after engineering?β Thatβs because when I graduated, there was no job for an ETC engineer. I worked for 1.5 years and then I decided do an MBA. I found BIMM as the best option in Maharashtra offering Executive MBA for candidates with work-experienced.
How I cracked college admission
I am prepared for CAT and MAT alongside my job. I borrowed notes from my friend who was taking coaching classes at T.I.M.E. I would study even while travelling for official work. I started searching for MBA colleges after I got my result. In this Shiksha.com helped me lot. The website provided me all the info about BIMM. And finally, I decided to go for BIMM.
What I gained from my college experience
My classes start at 8 am and go on till 7 pm. In the 1st semester we have 15 subjects. In between the classes we have a 1.45-hr break during which I take a short nap in the hostel room and then get back to the classes. 8am to 9pm is our newspaper reading session after which the classes begin. Marketing Management, Statistics, Business Mathematics, Economics, are some of the subjects I like. As I am an engineer, finance is a very for me to understand but somehow I managed it. My friend helped me a lot in scoring passing marks in the subject. External faculty is too good. Javed sir, Phadke sir, Deshpande sir, Reddy sir, Naag sir are the best in their field.
Coming to extra-curricular activites, I won Marketing Man of the year Award & guess gave me the award? She is Indiaβs first women IPS officer Mrs. Kiran Bedi. I also won in marketing task organized by the college. Now I am placed in Lodha Group with a CTC of 10 lakhs. Though the company wants me join early, I can continue my studies side by side. My college has taught me many things. Now, I am punctual, well shaved and know the importance of follow up. My college taught me 3Ds i.e. Discipline, Dedication and Determination.
I have friend network of 1000 and alumni base of 13000+. So I can proudly say that I am a part of huge tree.
