Mystory@Rupal M Shah: How I made my career – Challenges and successes

I always consider myself as an active and enthusiastic person. My parents were very supportive and believed in me since childhood. They were present beside me at every point in life and they are the reason behind my success. The thought of never letting them down has worked pretty well for me towards achieving my goals in life. My husband and in-laws also share equal credits for my success.

My journey towards success

After completing my B.com degree with the support of my parents I was not allowed to pursue with higher studies. All I wished was to study further without taking any financial aid from my parents. To my luck, I found an ad in a newspaper which was about the distance education programme in MBA from Honolulu University in the United States. So, I decided to pursue with the programme whilst working with an Event management industry for Manpower management and recruitment.

Soon after marriage, I realized that being just a homemaker was not my cup of tea.  I wanted to pursue with my thoughts and proudly wear the Entrepreneur tag. That is when I decided to set up “Smart Mamaz” which is a Moms N Kidz online Community.

The idea behind “Smart Mamaz” was cooked up in 2011. I always thought of a platform that proves helpful for the mothers in the country. A platform where they can share their experiences, concerns and find solutions for their day to day problems. The idea behind Smart Mamaz is “Mothers Offering Mothers Support”.

According to everyone around me, life changes after having a child. This responsibility requires devotion and patience. They even advised me to take a break from work and spend time nurturing my little one. It all sounded vague at that point of time and I decided to continue with work. There is no second thought in the fact that my daughter’s arrival in my life has brought a level of fulfillment that I never thought existed.

After her birth, although my mind was determined to continue with my corporate career but my heart was not convinced. Finally, I took a concrete decision to quit work and look forward to my responsibilities as a mother. Whilst growing a child I also learned all about the importance motherhood and a child’s development. Actually it’s a cause and it should be brought in front of all mothers to make them understand their responsibilities as a mother when trying to raise the little one.

My name is Rupal M Shah and I have completed my Bachelor’s in Commerce. After graduation I decided to pursue with a distance education MBA programme from Honolulu University, USA. After gaining 4 years of work experience with an even management company I decided to set up an organization for Indian mothers.
