Mystory@Somesh Dahuja: How I selected my course and made my career

I got a chance to opt for Psychology in Class XI, which later on became my favorite subject too. My mother randomly chose Psychology as a subject of study for me during my Class XI admissions. Later on, my interest in the subject grew so much that it became the reason for my success and popularity at college. I topped my college and was awarded a scholarship. It was a proud moment for both me and my parents.

I have always had a dream of writing a book on Child & Educational Psychology. If ever given a chance, I would definitely give it a try and express my thoughts and knowledge in words as a book. I think it might be helpful for parents who are worried about the development of their children.

I am very optimistic about life. Thus, I learn from my mistakes. I started my career in the Collections profile of a reputed bank. I then moved to the Sales department of a leading life insurance company just for the sake of an increased CTC.  I went back to the Collections profile with another top-notch bank but still didn't find what I was looking for.

After a span of 9 to 10 years of my career, I think I am on the right track now. It was my dream to work in the HR department and after a long period of time, I got the chance to fulfill the same. This time, I did not care about my CTC even though it was similar to what I earning two years back. The profile that I am in currently gives me the satisfaction I always needed in my job. Also, it has given me the confidence which will help me grow and flourish in the area I always dreamt of. This is what we call self-realisation.  

I would like to suggest everyone that you should never chose a profession that gives you only monetary satisfaction. Instead, chose the one which gives you psychological satisfaction.
