Mystory@Swapnika Reddy: How I chose my course and college
I chose BIPC in my Intermediate on the wish of my parents and due to fear of Math. However, later during Intermediate, some inspiring classes conducted by Sri Medavi People also inspired me to take up CA after my Intermediate. I had cracked my CPT in 1st attempt but IPCC took a lot of time. My parents advised me to apply for B.Com simultaneously. In my third year of B Com, I took coaching for MAT in Vijayawada where I heard about IPE, Hyderabad for the first time.
After MAT results were declared I applied to IPE and a few other colleges like Amrita University in Coimbatore and Christ University and IFIM in Bangalore but joined IPE because my parents wanted me to study close to home.
How I cracked college admission
I had attended coaching classes for MAT at T.I.M.E. institute. It is great institute for exam prep. At T.I.M.E., I learned a lot of tips of cracking MAT and took only 1 month to prepare for it. Through MAT score I applied to IPE. I attended its GD at the Osmania University campus in which the topic of discussion was problems being faced by India. Following the GD, I appeared in Personal Interview round where I successfully answered all the questions asked by the panel and got selected.
What I gained from my college years
I spend my time at college improving my knowledge to get through this competitive world. I maintain a balance between my studies and extra-curricular activities. I love to attend every class but I like accounting classes the most because anything related to finance attracts me a lot. I am very passionate about finance. I also like to participate in group discussions, case study solving sessions and special events like startupedia etc. I am a member of SIP cell and I am the class representative too. I am responsible to keep a check on whether all the students are able to attend the classes or whether they are attending classes regularly or not; and report to our course coordinator regarding these issues. In my free time I like to play badminton, chess and spend time with friends.
Before coming to IPE I was like a frog in the well. My college and my friends changed me a lot. I have improved my communication skills, overcome my stage-fright and learned management skills.
I am now able to handle pressure and can face any problem without stepping back. “Try your best and don’t think of the result. If you fail now, you will succeed later; learning is important,” this is what I learned in college. If I get a chance I want to make my college greater than IIMs and want to see my college and myself at the topmost position.
