Academic gap didn't come in the way: Tripta Kaur
My first day at Jagannath International Management School (JIMS, Kalkaji) was 15th June, 2018. We had foundation classes where we were introduced to the college and the college was introduced to us. And then my journey with JIMS began. We had orientation classes and alumni meetings. Teachers were introduced to us with respect to our subjects, and we were welcomed by them.
Our first trimester started with full energy. I grew in many ways. My communication and presentation skills as well as academics are improving day by day. I am elected the Academic Representative (AR) of the class. The sense of responsibility has made me feel confident about it as teachers have faith in me. The faculty is very professional and as well as very supportive and helpful. Teachers help us improve our ideas and guide us on how and where to apply so that we can grow in the right way and succeed in our work. The faculty couldn’t be more welcoming to all my questions and issues. I’m opening up and getting to know different types of people and learn from their experiences.
We are taken for industrial visits and receive guest lectures from the people of the corporate world so that we get full exposure to corporate life. Theoretical as well as practical knowledge is shared.
At the end of the first trimester, I realised that joining JIMS was a good decision. The 2nd trimester started in no time and I was in college on the first day of the 2nd trimester with the same excitement. The teachers were as welcoming as in the 1st trimester.
But a misfortune happened with me. I met with an accident and fractured my foot. I was in both shock and pain as I was advised bed rest and would have to miss my college and classes. But to my surprise, my director sir supported me and asked me not to worry about the classes and granted me leave for the same. I received all the study material and news about the college sitting at home. My teachers helped me whenever I had any queries. While I was healing from the fracture, I tried and attended a few classes. Everyone − my friends, classmates and as well as the faculty members − helped me so that I didn’t have any problem. Soon I was back and was welcomed.
We were taken to NTU, Singapore for an inter-country college programme for exposure to international corporate world. JIMS provided us with all the facilities and took care of our needs.
By the end of this trimester, I felt more confident and could connect with the corporate world.
MBA is hard, especially for a person taking a gap of 2 years from education. So far, my experience at JIMS has been great, but sometimes it gets quite hectic and very tough. But I have good people around me here who are always ready to give me assistance, and I’m very optimistic about my future.
