My life at JIMS: Vipin Bhat

2 mins readUpdated on Mar 1, 2019 15:36 IST

Since my school days, I have been an extrovert and wanted to go for the Commerce stream, but as it’s said ‘You don’t get always what you want’, my parents wanted me to take Science. So I went for Science against my choice and completed my schooling. After my schooling, I did engineering. But then also it was a feeling of incompleteness. There was something missing which I was not able to understand until I started my studies with JIMS. After my engineering got over, I spent some time in my family business and then I thought “Why not do management course?” So I gave a management aptitude test and scored well and after that, the search for a good management college started. When I started searching for colleges, my mindset was clear − I wanted a college in South Delhi, that too with a good reputation and good placement. And there it was − Jagannath International Management School standing tall on all my conditions.

When I told my parents, they were quite happy as the college was in Delhi only, that too in South Delhi.

The best part that I liked about JIMS was the foundation time where they provided basic business knowledge to all the students be it from Commerce background, Science background or any other field.

And after, the regular classes started. We had interaction with the faculty. It felt so good. The faculty here is so experienced and helpful that one won’t feel left behind. And about the events going on, there is so much activity that keeps going on every month that you feel highly excited and active. I started interacting with teachers and seniors and was able to make myself comfortable in the ambience of the college. There are so many great things about being in JIMS, according to me, that actually help you grow. For example, exposure to the corporate world through guest lectures and industrial meetings and also a strong notion of gender equality. Before joining the institute, I was very lethargic and lazy. I used to avoid work and relax. The major issue was with time management; I was really bad at it but since I joined the college, I actually saw changes in my behaviour. Now, I am able to make my own schedule and have become active. Not only that, now I also try to participate in maximum events by coordinating or organizing events, which has helped me in gaining confidence and letting me know my ability of being a team leader. It’s all because of the faculty members. They keep pushing each and every student to such extent that they are able to know their strengths and areas of improvement and how to work upon them. As for me, I will just say that in JIMS, you get to know your potential and you are trained in such a way that when you go in the corporate world, you will know what you are going to do. There is so much of self-confidence and determination because you get trained for all kinds of environment and tackle all kinds of situation.

At last, to conclude, I will just say that being at JIMS has helped me know myself better. It has helped me recognise my potential, my areas of improvement and till now, has always helped me to improve, evolve, and get better with each day I spend here.
