Rush Hour for CAT seats!

Back in the days, some of the most prestigious management entrance exams like Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) of IITs, MICA of Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad, and FMS entrance exams have been scrapped; as a consequence number of CAT applicants has increased. It has been revealed by the fact that approximately two-thirds of total seats for CAT 2011 have already been filled up and most of the registrations took place in last few days.

It is interesting to know that there are 20 more days left for the registration and the company has had to put in more capacity as seats are filling up so fast. To make it more convenient for candidates, Prometric has built in flexibility to add seats if testing are necessary during the registration window.

Prometric India's MD Soumitra Roy said that, some of the seats have already been added in the 8 locations as they were filling up fast, within the first 3 weeks of registration. Prometric is the US-based testing agency which has been conducting the computer based CAT for the last two years. Seats capacity has been added in cities like Bhilai, Dehradun, Cochin, Kozhikode, Jamshedpur, Guwahati, Vishakhapatnam and Hyderabad of which Bhilai was a new city added this year.

Date for CAT 2011 is near about in a span of 20 days from October 22 to November 18 2011 and it will have only two sections instead of three. The duration of the examination will be 140 minutes and candidates will have 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section which will have an on-screen countdown timer.

Once the student is done with the first section, they will move to the second and will no longer be able to go back. Moreover, they will be provided with a 15-minute tutorial will be provided before the start of the test. The total duration will be two hours and 35 minutes including the tutorial.

โ€˜Please register as early as possible to avoid the last minute rush or disappointment of not getting their preferred dates or location.'

Good Luck!
