<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>IIM-A Raises Fee By 10%</strong></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad has raised its fee by 10% for the forthcoming two-year management program. For the <img style="border: 3px solid black; margin: 3px 4px; float: right;" src="https://images.shiksha.com/mediadata/images/1271761660phpixhrVk.jpeg" alt="" width="150" height="110">past three years, the premier B-school has been raising its fee for the two-year postgraduate programme. According to a release issued by IIM-A, the fee for the PGP Batch 2010-12 has been revised to Rs 13.7 lakh (Rs 6.6 lakh for the first year and the rest for the second year) as against the existing fee of Rs 12.5 lakh. It includes all costs other than the cost of food.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Transparency In Medical Entrance Test By HP University</strong></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The HP University conducted a Combined Pre-Medical Entrance Test (CPMET) for Medical and dental aspirants. The test was conducted for admission purposes in the colleges of the state that had faced controversies in the past due to lack of transparency in the exam process. The university has ensured to show transparency while conducting the entrance test in near future. In order to overcome the shortcomings and lack of transparency in the system, Mr. Sunil Gupta, Vice-Chancellor of the university, has come up with an exercise to find out the grey areas of the system and will work over it to improve the system. He explained, "Publishing results along with that of the answer key on the web would enable the candidates to carry out self evaluation of their performance. In case there is some discrepancy in the statement of marks, the candidates can always go for a revaluation which will take 10 days time."</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>India's Booming Education System Excites American Varsities</strong></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">American varsities are looking to expand their presence in India's growing education market. According to Mr. Vivek Wadhwa, an Indian American entrepreneur turned academic, said, "For them, this provides an ability to expand their programmes and make their students and faculty more globally aware." However, some prestigious institutions like Yale University don't expect to start up their campus in the country in the near future.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Studying Cost At ISB Touches Rs 20 lakh</strong></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The Indian School of Business has increased its tuition fee to Rs 20.2 lakhs (Rs 2.02 million) to pursue the flagship post- graduate programme at ISB. Fee includes optional expenses of Rs 2,90,000 for accommodation, books, laptop, alumni association membership and meals. Around 34,000 Indian students studied at British institutions in 2008-09; an increase by 31.5% from the year before.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Number Of Indian Graduates In US Rises</strong></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Applications from Indian students to universities in the US for graduate studies have stabilized now, according to a new report. India, China and South Korea are the three largest countries of origin for international graduate students in the US, as per the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) report. "Applications from India and South Korea appear to have stabilized after significant declines last year: there was a 2 per cent decline from India and no change from South Korea this year," the report revealed. "The continued recovery in international graduate applications has been a positive trend," CGS President Ms Debra W Stewart said. "However, we must not be overconfident.
