NMAT To Be Online From 2010
Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) has announced that it will now be conducting a National Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) for Part-time MBA course and Ph.D. students. It will be an Online Test to begin from 2010. The exam, to be conducted for the duration of two hours at various centers, will not only target students from India but also candidates from Australia, UK and other Asian countries. The test will begin from 30th January 2010 and will end on 08 February 2010. It will comprise of three sections-Quantitative Analysis, Verbal Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning with equal weightage. NMIMS has a total number of 420 seats available for these courses. The online mode will help in handling a large number of candidates as the estimated calculation for 2009 is of fifty thousand plus compared to forty six thousand candidates in last year.

ASEAN Summit Welcomes Nalanda University For Renewal
Honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Manmohan Singh has put forward a proposal to set up Nalanda University as an international institution of excellence while addressing the 7th India-Asean Summit. The heads of the ASEAN Summit have welcomed India's initiative for the revival of Nalanda University in Bihar. As per a joint press statement of the fourth East Asia Summit held in Thai resort, the heads of summit "are deeply impressed with the sanctity and significance of the great ancient centre of learning in Nalanda that attracted many scholars from South, South-East and East Asia". ASEAN members also noted that Nalanda University will be a great centre of intellectual activity in Buddhist philosophy, mathematics, medicine and other disciplines.

HCL, BIM Sign Memorandum of Understanding for MBA Program
Recently, the Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) launched its new elective course on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as part of its Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Program in association with the computer major Hindustan Computer Limited (HCL) Technologies. Through Faculty Enablement Program HCL, employees will lecture BIM students and will also train BIM staff. Mr.B.Ravishankar, senior vice-president of Organization Development and Effectiveness at HCL said, "This will help the students to specialize and elevate themselves above the engineering graduate (placement) market. It will give us ready-made employees."

More IAS Coaching Centers Needed-TNPSC Chairman
Recently, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Chairman, Mr. Kasi Viswanathan has expressed the need of establishing coaching centers in every district of the state for IAS and IPS Preparation. Mr. Viswanathan inaugurated Krishnagiri Rural IAS Study Academy for Men at Government Arts College; Krishnagiri.The web page of this academy, www.krishnagiri.tn.nic.in was also launched by him. Mr. Viswanathan also said, "With such academies functional in the state, it would facilitate the growth of rural students as compared to their urban counterparts. It is the prerogative of the respective collectors to seek such centers in their district." From different parts of the district and from neighboring Karnataka, 165 candidates appeared for written test, out of which only 35 candidates were selected.

Recently, twelve deemed universities got a clean chit from the University Grant Commission. Some Universities were deemed undeserving for the status of deemed university. Through this a total of 59 deemed universities got the clearance from the UGC. The UGC forwarded the reports to the ministry for its deliberation. The ministry has set up another committee to review the functioning of such institutes.
