Students’ Speak: Be yourself and don't try to copy others

Soon after CAT or any management entrance exam result, the most crucial part for any serious MBA aspirant is GDPI for getting into top B-School. Hence most of the students start preparing for GDPI soon after their management exams irrespective of their results.
The difficulty level of GDPI by any top B-school such as IIM's or any of the top 10 B-school is always kept at a standard level. Candidates appearing for GD PI after clearing CAT are from diverse backgrounds such as Arts, Science, Medicine, Law, and Engineering. Hence, they are broadly classified as Engineers or non-Engineers. There is a lot of weightage given to non-Engineers and female candidates appearing for GDPI.

Most of the students do not give importance to GDPI the way they give to CAT, which is completely wrong. There are instances when even the top scorer of CAT could not get admission because of not preparing GDPI seriously. For a well prepared MBA aspirant, GD PI is not so difficult. With a decent preparation and with common sense, it would be easy to clear GDPI rounds.
Major challenges faced by the candidates are they become nervous and also they put themselves down in front of a large crowd which is very much normal considering the competition is too high. Most of the non-engineers are facing GDPI for the first time especially the freshers. Hence, to overcome these kinds of challenges, read below some of the major key tips which a candidate could follow before GDPI and also on the day of GDPI.
- Try to reach at the GDPI location an hour prior to the reporting time so that you make yourself calm and get settled in the new environment. If the location is far away and your GDPI session is scheduled in the morning, I would recommend reaching the place one night before and take a room or stay at your relative’s house if you have any
- Most importantly, take proper sleep for at least 7 You need to be fresh and energetic to attend the GDPI process
- Take a light and healthy breakfast along with fresh juice
- Take chocolate with, it will help you overcome fear and stress. This will help you to boost your focus and mood
- Make sure you have taken all the required documents for reporting before and during the GDPI process
- Be yourself and don't try to copy others
- Don't ask too many questions from the one who has completed their GDPI round as this may put you even more under stress.
