Two days back TASMAC London School of Business declared its closure of the London campus, which has affected around 550 students of Asian and African origin, and many of them are Indians. It has been shutdown due to the strict visa rules.

As per a student, who was studying at TASMAC London and paid for an MBA to University of Wales, said that the authorities are not taking any clear action and they are just taking their time. They acclaimed that students will be transferred to other college but nothing has happened yet.

According to the United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA), students associated with TASMAC London have only 60 days to decide on their future. Either they will get admission in a new college, or have to fulfill the visa requirements, or else, they will have to leave the country.

In this regard, spokesperson of UKBA said that, in the early of 2011, it has been announced that from April 2012 all institutions wanting to sponsor foreign students would have to be classed as a Highly Trusted Sponsor by the UK Border Agency. Such institutes will also be inspected by an approved educational oversight body by the end of 2012.

But TASMAC London no longer wishes to sponsor the foreign students to enter the UK and that is why it has surrendered its license. Such changes in the accreditation and increase in the inspection will guard the legitimate students. It will also ensure that institutes with a proven track record in immigration conformity will only get license to bring international students to UK.

As per the immigration rules, if a student is already in the UK and his or her education providers or sponsors surrender or withdraw their license, then the student will have only 60 days grace period to find an alternative in the UK.

Joint MD of TASMAC and TASMAC London, Sameer Dua, stated that it's not only TASMAC but there are some other private education providers who were asked to shut down because of the strict visa rules. He said that TASMAC and the University of Wales are trying to ensure that students can continue their studies. The University of Wales is also seeking for partners colleges where they can transfer the stranded students so that they would be able to complete their degrees.
