Wharton School launches Business Certificate Program in India
The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania has declared the launch of a new non-degree business certificate program in India. This program will commence from January 2012. It is being called as Accelerated Development Program (ADP) and has been designed to meet the current needs of global business leaders with high potential in India.
All Indian executives who wish to study in Wharton School can fulfill their wish from next year onwards. Wharton Vice Dean Jason Wingard has made the announcement of this program at the School's Global Engagement Series event held in Mumbai, India. He said that this program will illustrate the Wharton's commitment to global business education as it will bring Wharton's world-class faculty and thought leadership to business executives in India.
He firmly believes that the school is in position to offer research and knowledge and in turn it will help business executives to analyze the growing economy. This new program will cover topics such as international marketing and global strategic leadership. In order to receive the certificate, students will have to take three courses, one of which can be completed at Wharton's campus in Philadelphia.
This program was developed by some of the world's most eminent experts. Such experts have delivered their area of expertise in the global context and put emphasis on deep knowledge of cultural differences and differences in modes of competition.
He is hoping that the program will teach students as how to be successful in the Indian market and "be prepared to ride this new wave of growth. This Accelerated Development Program will be hosted in a 5 star hotel in Mumbai and visiting faculty from Philadelphia will stay in the hotel till the time they teach. Despite offering a wide array of courses, it will offer a small range of courses which will be taught by the experts.
Vice Dean for Global Initiatives Harbir Singh said that, In Philadelphia, we offer about 50 programs and in India, at present, we are offering a smaller menu, but with the passage of time number of courses will increase. Although Wharton currently offers education programs to almost 10,000 executives in Philadelphia and San Francisco, the new program in India will be unique.
He also said that for our existing programs, students come from all over the world including India. However, it is important to provide a tailor made program for India. No doubt that some of the topics will overlap with what is being taught in Philadelphia, but there will be a surprising factor or uniqueness.
