XAT is a pen-paper mode exam.

The Xavier School of Management has unveiled the expected question paper pattern for XAT 2017 to help the candidates in assessing their level of preparation. The exam is set to be held on January 8, 2017.

Although the document doesn’t exactly reveal what kind of questions will be asked in XAT 2017, it gives a fair idea of the pattern of the test paper, nonetheless.

The most important aspect of the XAT question paper this year is, a deduction of 0.05 marks for unanswered question. However, this deduction will not apply for a maximum of 12 unattempted questions. In XAT 2016, this limit was 13 questions.

Negative marks for such questions shall be deducted proportionately across the three sections.

The question paper consists of two parts. Part one consists of 72 questions divided into three parts A, B, C. Part A will have 24 questions, Part B will have 21 questions and Part C will have 27 questions. Part two of the question paper will have 25 questions from GK and an essay.

“Got a question about top MBA exams? Ask students who have already made it to top B-Schools.”

Time allotted to complete the exam is 210 minutes. Part one needs to be completed in 170 minutes and GK+essay writing in 35 minutes.

Other important points to remember while writing the test:

  • All questions carry equal marks
  • 1/4th of a mark will be deducted for each wrong answer
  • Each question has five options. The answers are to marked only on the OMR sheet
  • Only blue-black ball-point pen is to be used for answering the questions
  • General Knowledge marks would be used only for the final selection and not for shortlisting candidates for interview/GD

For over 60 years, XLRI has been conducting XAT on an all India level to select the most appropriate students for management education. The XAT score is considered for admission by more than 150 B-Schools across India.
