100 more MBBS seats for Punjab, Amritsar colleges
From the next academic year, the Government Medical Colleges of Patiala and Amritsar will have additional 100 MBBS seats approved by the Punjab government.
Presently, the intake of students for the MBBS course at both the colleges is 150. The governing body at Medical College Patiala has also agreed to increase the intake of 47 seats in post graduation courses.
Subsequently, the governing body has given its nod to spend Rs 32 crore for the purchase of equipment for the upcoming hi-tech Cancer Diagnostic Treatment Centre at Bathinda. Setting up of Haemophilic Diagnostic Centre at Patiala is also scheduled.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has urged the Medical Education and Research Department to set up Haemophilic Diagnostic Centre at other Government Medical and Dental Colleges too. Besides this, he has also agreed to promote research in all the Government Medical and Dental Colleges of the state.
