AIPMT 2014: Student reactions

Considered as one of the most important medical entrance exams, AIPMT (All India Pre Medical/ Pre Dental Test) 2014 was conducted today, on May 4, 2014 at various exam centres across the nation from 10 am to 1 pm.

According to reports, over 6,16,982 aspirants registered for the exam but around 5,79,604 aspirants were expected to take the exam.

The exam paper was divided over three sections โ€“ Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The number of questions in the paper was 180, and the overall paper was of 720 marks. Each question contained 4 marks and 1 mark would be deducted for each wrong answer.

Shiksha.com caught up with some of the test takers to know how exactly was the exam, the difficulty level of the paper and more.

Nidhi Gupta, who gave a second shot at the exam said, โ€œThis year the paper was difficult as compared to last year. Last year the exam was very easy. The paper would have been easy for anyone who has gone through NCERT thoroughly. The questions in the Biology section were completely from NCERT.โ€

However, Lucky who took the exam from Jaipur, found it to be pretty easy. He said, โ€œThe paper wasnโ€™t bad. In fact, it went pretty well, however, Physics was a bit tough. I could solve pretty much all the questions in Bio and Chemistry because they were very easy. Everything that I studied in Bio at the last moment came in the exam, which proved beneficial for me. But in Physics, I could only solve 25 out of 45 questions.โ€

Sonal, another medical aspirant said, โ€œI would rate the paper as average. It was neither tough nor easy. Physics was the toughest, Biology was the easiest and Chemistry was of medium level. However, I think some of the questions were repeated.โ€

Confirming the same, Nidhi added, โ€œIn Physics, around 2-3 questions were from previous years' papers. Basically, the questions were same, but the results were different. In Biology too, I think, around 1 or 2 questions were from last yearsโ€™ question banks.โ€

She added, โ€œTaking this yearโ€™s exam has cleared one of my myths. They say that solve as many last years' question papers as you can as there are high chances of questions being repeated. I did that to score well and with an expectation that either the questions would be repeated or they would be on the same lines. But, nothing like that happened. As I told you, besides 2-3 questions, none of the questions were repeate.โ€

Most of the students shiksha.com spoke to reported that there were no glitches, surprises or unexpected questions in the AIPMT 2014 paper!
