First know each topics and sub-topics of the syllabus as per the NEET PG 2026, and read and understand all of these. Know the paper pattern and marking scheme
NEET PG exam pattern and marking system are important factors that define your preparation strategy. Since, the examination follows a negative marking system you cannot give in to random guessing of answers. Prepare Time Table and Follow it
Discipline is the key if you plan to prepare for NEET PG at home. The idea is that you need to be careful and do not lose the track of the time. It is advisable to make a time table and following it strictly. Devote at least 8 hours in a day for NEET PG preparation.
Make notes and highlight important information
When reading a topic, underline/ highlight the points that you feel are important and can be asked in the examination. This habit will help you save time during revision. You can quickly go through the points that are important and skip the rest.
Register for mock tests and test series
Mock tests and sample papers are an important part of NEET PG preparation. To prepare for NEET PG 2026 at home enrol into a test series. Do not rely on the sample papers only. Mock tests give you a real-time experience and help improve your efficiency, speed and accuracy. Target appearing for at least 2 mock tests every week.
Seek advice from a mentor
Preparing for NEET PG at home without coaching is not going be to be easy. You need a guide or a mentor to help you move in the right direction. Seek help from an old college professor or a senior, anyone who knows what NEET PG is about.
Satellite lectures for difficult topics
You may come across topics that are difficult to understand and you may have doubts with respect to them. For such topics, you can ether refer to the online video tutorials or you can also seek experts' help for clearing your doubts. For video tutorials, you must have a good internet connection.
Regular revision
Allocate time for revision in your time table. Candidates usually start with revision after they complete the entire syllabus, but this practice is not effective. Devote an hour for revision every day. This will keep the wheel moving and you can complete more revision cycles by the time you finish the syllabus.
