Foreign Universities at your door step: Just a Bill Away

The Indian education ministry is not leaving any stone unturned to give the best education to the Indian students. HRD Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal has taken many initiatives to bring best foreign institutions in India. In this regards he has already proposed a bill according to which the best institutes of UK, Australia and USA will going to establish their institutions in India very soon. The minister has allowed the quality institution to set their offices and give quality education.


HRD minister Mr. Kapil Sibal is very clear over the thought that what type of institute he required in India for higher education. He asserted the government’s stand that fly-by-night operators will be allowed to set up campuses in India. He said, "We discussed a whole range of issues, including the entry of foreign education providers. We want that quality education providers should come here.”


He added in the conversation that 100 per cent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) through automatic route is permitted in the education sector since 2000. But our present legal system does not allow the foreign university to award a degree to Indian aspiring students in Indian land. The new proposed bill will allow the foreign universities to award the degree to Indian students On Indian soil, but it would regulated the university’s entry and allow them to do so on Indian interest and according to our requirements.


Mr. Sibal also discussed about the safety and security of Indian students in Australian and the initiatives taken by the Australian government to protect Indian students. Sibal said the proposed law would facilitate the globally renowned institutes to participate in India's higher education sector.


He mentioned that the proposed bill will bring foreign institutions from all sector but he is also giving special attention to vocational education training. He also emphasised the need for institution to institution linkages and collaboration for vocational education and training.
