Hyderabad gets non-minority women’s medical college
Hyderabad would soon have a women’s medical college, the first non-minority medical college in the state meant for girls, for the 2013-14 academic year. The college is expected to benefit over 70,000 girl aspirants who qualified EAMCET this year.
The Medical Council of India (MCI) has allowed several colleges to increase their intake by 50 students each. As a result, 1,050 seats have been added to the existing 5,500 seats in the state, taking the total to 6,550. These seats are expected to be added till the end of July.
Other medical colleges (in AP) for which MCI has permitted to increase the intake:
150 MBBS seats
- Malla Reddy Medical College for Women, Suraram(near Jeedimetla)
50 MBBS seats each
- Alluri Sitarama Raju Academy of Medical Sciences (Eluru)
- Andhra Medical College (Vizag)
- Gandhi Medical College (Hyderabad)
- Kakatiya Medical College (Warangal)
- Katuri Medical College (Guntur)
- Kurnool Medical College (Kurnool)
- Maharajah Institute of Medical Sciences (Vizianagaram)
- Medicity Institute of Medical Sciences (Ghanpur)
- Osmania Medical College (Hyderabad)
- Rangaraya Medical College (Kakinada)
- SV Medical College (Tirupati)
- SVS Medical College (Mahbubnagar)
- Siddhartha Medical College (Vijayawada)
New colleges approved by MCI in AP:
- Govt Medical college in Nizamabad – 100 seats
- Private college: Malla Reddy Medical College for Women (Suraram) – 150 seats
- Private college: Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences (LB Nagar) – 150 seats
Below mentioned three new private medical colleges have Not received the MCI approval as yet:
- Maheshwara Medical College - Patancheru
- TRR Medical College - Patancheru
- Viswa Bharathi Medical College - Kurnool
