National Board of Examinations to hold NEET-PG in 2013
A single common entrance test for admission to post-graduate medical courses across the country will be held next year. This exam will now be conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The board of Governors of NBE has agreed to conduct the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for post-graduate medical courses like MD and MS from 2013.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had requested the board for the same. President of National Board of Examinations K Srinath Reddy said that All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has refused to conduct this exam in 2013; thereby NBE came in the picture. Reddy also said that before conducting the exam, he want to clarify few things, which includes strengthening of the infrastructure within the Board and granting freedom to it for conducting the NEET-PG in 2013. Previously, MCI was supposed to conduct the exam, then it went to AIIMS, but due to some problems both of them has backed out from the league.
