New training center for mental health professionals
A training center for mental health professional has been set up by SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre in its Kattankulathur campus. Directed towards Indians who are preparing for Royal College degrees, the centre comprises a team of consultants from the UK and India. The center offers a special course for the clinical assessment of skills, which will be conducted twice a year. In addition to this, the college has also established a specialty clinic on mental health.
In a TOI report, Dr M Thirunavukkarasu, head of the department of psychiatry at the college, shares that only 29% out of 40,836 MBBS graduates in 335 medical colleges across the country, make it to the postgraduate programmes in a clinical specialty due to stiff competition. (Read More...)
