Over 600 more govt medical seats for Karnataka

It’s good news for medical aspirants. The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) recently added 416 seats in the government quota. Well, the additions do not end here as a few more seats are expected to be added in the coming days .The colleges that are covered under the matrix are listed below:

The 416 added had not been uploaded earlier and as a result only 1,588 seats were displayed for students to enter their options. However, by late evening of July 4, the KEA displayed 1,990 seats.

Around 287 seats are expected to be added in the next 2-3 days with 61 more seats likely to be added in ESIC, Gulbarga. These additions of seats are expected to raise the number of seats to 2,442 in 36 medical colleges. However, of these, 45 are under litigation.

Subsequently, ComedK too is playing a vital role towards the benefit of students. The council has postponed the last date to surrender or confirm seats and following KEA's request, the council will conduct its second round of counselling only after KEA are done with theirs. KEA, for the first time ever, will also allow online payment of fees

Facts and figures:

  • As many as 76 colleges have surrendered 7,421 engineering seats for CET
  • Three new engineering colleges will add 300 seats
  • Three architecture colleges will add 162 seats this year. In all, there are 51,222 engineering seats in the government quota
  • Around 995 ISM&H seats can be expected this year
